Additional experience in teaching students with special educational needs would be of interest, but is not essential.

Graduate Physiotherapist

Millfield School is looking to recruit a Graduate Physiotherapist for the 2021/22 academic year.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Physiotherapist position at Millfield School for the 2021/22 academic year. The role will make a positive contribution to the Millfield Institute of Sport and Wellbeing.
Millfield is an independent boarding school with outstanding pastoral and co-curricular activities, set in the heart of Somerset. We cater for approximately 1250 pupils aged 13 to 18, all of whom are engaged in sport and physical activities. We have outstanding facilities and a vibrant multisport environment.
The Graduate Physiotherapist will assist the physiotherapy department, who are responsible for the delivery of physiotherapy support services to Millfield Pupils involved in a wide variety of sporting activities. The successful candidate will be involved in clinic delivery, pitch side cover, attend sport training sessions, day to day administration, communications, diary management, pupil screening and result assessments to formulate realistic prehabilitation and rehabilitation plans. This role also engages with the school boarding programme and other duties will include supporting within a boarding house or within the campus facilities during some evenings and weekends.
A key part of this role is to provide high quality physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation of injured pupils, to return them to optimum fitness in the shortest time possible. The role includes travel to away fixtures and weekend working. Remuneration is £9,684 for a 32.6 week period (one academic year), including holiday pay and plus board and lodgings during term time. Accommodation may be within a shared house or within/attached to a year 9 boarding house, further details on this will be provided at interview.

Goalkeeping Development Coach

A vacancy has arisen at Millfield School for a qualified and experienced Goalkeeping Coach to work on a part-time basis through the months of September to April.
Millfield is an independent boarding school with outstanding pastoral and co-curricular activities, set in the heart of Somerset. We cater for approximately 1230 pupils aged 13 to 18, all of whom are engaged in sport and physical activities. We have outstanding facilities and a vibrant multisport environment.
Football is the largest participation sport at Millfield, with 200 players across both genders taking part. Opportunities are available for all, from recreational to higher ability groups. Our excellent facilities include 11 full sized pitches and three training areas, and pupils also have access to onsite strength and conditioning training, physiotherapy and performance analysis.
Football is the sport of the term during both the Autumn and Spring terms, as such we are seeking a qualified coach to develop the skills of our goalkeepers for approximately 8 hours per week during these terms. As a Goalkeeping Coach you will work with all ages, sex and abilities, and in addition to the development of goalkeepers you will also lead in the coaching of a team.
To be successful in this role you must be suitably qualified to a minimum standard of UEFA B/ FA Level 3 (a UEFA A Goalkeeper Licence is also desirable), be passionate about the development of young people and experienced in coaching young goalkeepers within a structured pathway environment.

Head of PSHEE/ School Counsellor

An unusual yet exciting opportunity has arisen at Millfield School for an experienced and qualified counsellor to manage their PSHEE and RSE programme. This is a multi-faceted position with responsibilities extending over PSHEE, RSE and School Counselling. This is a full-time position working the days Monday to Friday. Whilst usually a term time only position, we are hoping that the successful applicant will start in August 2021 in advance of the new academic year.
As the Head of PSHEE you will be responsible for designing a new wellbeing and life skills education programme which incorporates all statutory RSE and PSHEE requirements, including the creating of lesson plans and resources, and training teachers on how to deliver the programme. Whilst you will not be required to personally deliver the PSHEE lessons, you will be part of the team delivering RSE sessions within the boarding houses and you will be the line manage for this team of RSE tutors and nurses. These sessions are usually held during school lunchtimes and evenings so there will be a requirement for some evening work.
A smaller but equally important element of this job is to also work with our team of highly trained Counsellors to provide counselling support to the pupils. There will be an allocation of 10 hours per week to this and your role will include developing the psychoeducation offering by running small therapeutic groups and workshops around some of the themes that the counselling team are seeing regularly.
Whilst it is not an essential criterion, a background in teaching/education may be beneficial, as is a background in CBT. It is essential that the successful individual be relatable, empathetic and be passionate about providing young pupils with the skills and knowledge needed to be safe and happy as well as to grow and succeed.

PR and Marketing Officer

As the PR and Marketing Officer, you will work closely with the Head of Marketing to plan, manage and deliver all aspects of Millfield’s publicity programme with a strong focus on social media. Your role will involve leading on strategic content generation, media relations, monthly newsletters, video and photography and managing production of all content and social media accounts. You will be part of a small team which includes a PR and Marketing Assistant and a Graphic Designer, so there are plenty of opportunities to share ideas.
Specific key duties will include (but not limited to):
- Evaluate opportunities for media coverage, and target pitches and press releases to relevant media publications and broadcast outlets.
- Generate and upload daily copy and multimedia content for digital media, including social media
- Manage, monitor and evaluate Millfield’s social media channels, including supporting staff to create their own accounts and delivering training.
- Create, implement and evaluate PR campaigns for high profile events or launches.
- Manage the production of online content (content recommendation, copywriting, production (including multi-media) and distribution, including SEO to target particular audiences).
- Work with the PR & Marketing Assistant to manage photography requirements
- Assist in the handling of crisis PR situations
The successful individual will need to be organised and highly motivated, and be people orientated with excellent communication skills. We are seeking someone with a minimum of two years of experience in PR, media or journalism.
Essential skills include video creation and editing, social media, competency in written English, ability to proof-read to a high standard and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. A journalism background is also advantageous.

This is a full-time role working all-year round. Normal hours of work are 9am – 5pm however flexibility is necessary as there may be occasions when you will be required on evenings/ weekends to assist with events.

Minibus Drivers

Millfield School currently has positions for drivers on both the morning and afternoon school runs, as well as to work on a casual/ as-and-when basis. To be eligible for this position you will need to have a full D1 or D1+E Driving License.
The morning school run is from approx. 5.30am until 8.30am, Monday to Saturday. The afternoon route is a shuttle run between the school and the Baltonsborough boarding house and hours of work are 3.45pm to 7.15pm on Mondays and 4.15pm to 7.15pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
On top of the school runs we also require the drivers on a casual basis for fixtures, events, airport runs and shuttling pupils between the main campus and the Kingweston sports pitches. We therefore encourage applications from drivers who may not be able to commit to set hours but would be interested in joining the team.

Boarding House Cleaner
Millfield School is looking for a cleaner on a part-time basis to with the school boarding houses.
Millfield is one of the largest boarding schools in the UK, covering a whopping 440 acres between Millfield School and Millfield Prep. Between the two sites there are over 1600 pupils from ages 2 – 18, many of whom are boarders. The school holds a world-renowned reputation for having incredible facilities which includes 24 boarding houses an Olympic-size swimming pool, a full-sized golf course, theatre, concert hall, equestrian centre and indoor tennis, cricket and golf centres.
As a Boarding House Cleaner, you will start as a member of the floating team in which you will experience each of the boarding houses, before being allocated a regular house.
The hours of work are 3 hours per morning Monday to Friday plus 2 hours per morning on alternate Saturdays. Monday to Friday hours are all year round however Saturday working is only required during term time. Normal start times can be flexible between 8.30am and 9.15am.

Millfield School is seeking a Groom to join our growing and dynamic team.
Millfield is an independent boarding school with outstanding pastoral and co-curricular activities, set in the heart of Somerset. We cater for approximately 1230 pupils aged 13 to 18, all of whom are engaged in sport and physical activities. Millfield School has a large Equestrian Centre with room for 53 horses and both indoor and outdoor arenas. It is a BHS Approved Centre that is able to provide staff training to fellowship level.
We are seeking a Groom to work on a full-time basis. The hours of work are 6.45am – 6.30pm during term time and 7.30am – 5.30pm during school holidays (with a 2-hour unpaid lunch break). You will also be required to do night-time stable checks on a rota basis. Days off are allocated on a rota of 2 days one week and 1½ days the following week.
