Discover Brilliance Fund

Our Mission

Looking ahead to Millfield’s 100th anniversary in 2035, we have set an ambitious target of raising £100 million for the Discover Brilliance Campaign.

Boss Meyer founded Millfield in 1935, with a clear vision to provide support to students with limited financial means. The Discover Brilliance Campaign will enable us to significantly increase opportunities for children to attend Millfield. Our aim is to be able to support 100 fully funded boarders.

A Millfield education is transformational. Children that attend the school routinely reach the highest levels in academia, sport, music, creative arts – wherever their passion lies, they can discover their brilliance. Such an opportunity will significantly enhance their life chances, future options and life-long outcomes. We already offer means-tested financial support to students from a wide range of backgrounds and the Discover Brilliance Campaign will secure the future of Boss Meyer’s vision to support students with limited financial means.

Giving Day 2023

In 2023, the incredible Millfield community joined together to raise £150,000 through donations and pledges for the Discover Brilliance Campaign. We could not have done it without all our donors and the fantastic involvement we have received from many parents, students, staff, governors and friends.

Last Year’s Giving Day was centred around the topic of Philanthropy, and we hosted some fantastic talks and activities, educating and developing a deeper understanding of the principles of global citizenship and helping those in need.

We are grateful to all our generous donors, whose gift will increase the opportunity for children with limited financial means to attend the school and discover their brilliance. A huge thank you from everyone at Millfield! To view all our supporters, please click here.

What is Giving Day?

We believe that Giving Day demonstrates what the Millfield community can achieve together, continuing Boss Meyer’s ethos of offering a transformational education to children who otherwise couldn’t afford it and fulfil our potential as a global leader in education and a driving force for social mobility. The benefits of transformational bursaries go far beyond the individuals, to the whole Millfield community and wider society, by supporting social mobility.

“I am acutely aware of the possibilities of what we can achieve as a collective, how many lives we could transform, and how we can do this by working together.”

Gavin Horgan, Millfield Headmaster

“If you could pay for one other one, half another one or 10 other children, it will suit me very well indeed.”

Joanna Fletcher

“Without a bursary at Millfield, I may never have had the same opportunities and support system around me to nurture my talent and passion. It changed my life forever and opened doors on many levels.”
