Millfield Prep's sports hall, under Glastonbury Tor, Somerset

Millfield is a name that’s synonymous with sport. From the complete beginner to developing the pathway for potential future sporting greats, we believe that exercise and activity is essential to the wellbeing of our pupils, shaping their character, creativity and community spirit.

Sport Facilities

The outstanding facilities for sport, in the classroom and boarding, at Millfield and Millfield Prep allows our pupils to excel and we know it is one of the top reasons parents choose us.

Whether it’s swimming in our 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool, Millfield’s Olympic-size indoor heated pool, our 9 or 18-hole golf courses, putting green, climbing wall, squash courts, tennis bubble, cricket pitches and nets or horse riding in our fantastic equestrian centre, which features over 120 acres of hacking trails, a British Eventing (BE) cross country course and two all-weather arenas, we provide opportunities in a wide variety of fields.

Pupils have the chance to play sport every day and are encouraged to participate in extra squad or team training. Alongside the traditional core sports, we offer Modern Penthalon, Polo, Sailing and Shooting. Find out more about Sport at Millfield Prep here.

We also offer numerous other activities such as Climbing on our school climbing wall, Fencing, Mandarian, Chess, Pony Club and Soft Toy Making. Our focus remains on the individual child and, with such outstanding facilities, every child will find a passion to pursue.

Millfield Prep has a state-of-the-art Sports Pavilion which overlooks our 180 acres of green fields and pitches, and is the perfect spot for family and friends to support their children during games and matches.

Classroom

We also have fantastic art facilities including a 3D lasercutter, pottery making room and outdoor space for stone carving, allowing pupils to find their creative flare within their work.

The number and scope of music ensembles is outstanding. Every child is encouraged to perform, which produces varied, confident, accomplished individuals.

Our pupils get to compete in various academic competitions including the Bebras Computing Challenge. This is a competition where individuals answer various computational thinking questions, with the top ten pupils across the country participate in the TCS Oxford Computer Challenge final.

Boarding

There are five boarding houses on campus, set in idyllic grounds with plenty of open space. Our grounds reflect our philosophy on boarding: to combine a calm, homely environment with an exciting range of activities. Millfield Prep has three boys’ houses and two girls’ houses, all modern with recent refurbishments. Each house is warm and welcoming with cosy dorms and kitchens for those all-important snacks. We offer full, flexi or occasional boarding for your child, making it convenient for parents.

The size of our campus brings so much opportunity and plenty of space for pupils to grow and develop. We provide children with a safe, healthy and happy environment to learn in. Millfield Prep and Millfield is situated in the beautiful rural Southwest of England, in the county of Somerset. This location offers pupils miles of green fields, clean fresh air and a safety away from built-up urban centres.

Millfield Prep is in the historic town of Glastonbury, within a ten-minute drive from Millfield, located in Street. London is only 135 miles away and major air, rail and road links are all within easy reach.
