University Destinations

Millfield has a strong track record in supporting students in their decision-making on which university or college is best for them. Our Futures Department is resourced to provide guidance to meet individual aspirations, whatever a student’s ambitions, whether it is Oxbridge, Russell Group, specialist colleges, American or other colleges and international universities.

The summer of 2023 saw 91% of the cohort (302) secure Higher and Further Education places with 3% opting for a gap year or going into employment and 1% following alternative pathways such as Apprenticeship and Military options.

83 of our leavers and 11 OMs won places to Russell Group universities with one securing a place on the Medicine course at UCL. Additionally, one student secured a place at the Royal Veterinary College to study Veterinary Medicine. Popular university choices include Bath, Bristol, Cardiff Met, Exeter, Oxford Brookes, Reading and University of the Arts, London (UAL).

This year, 86 students (28%) are attending institutions outside of the UK with Switzerland, Spain and France being popular destinations in Europe. North American application numbers continue to rise with 46 leavers gaining places into American institutions and six deferring to 2024 entry, with three heading to Canada. Nine students were on full rides worth millions of dollars. Popular universities include New York University (NYU), Rhodes Island School of Design, Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design. Other notable acceptances include Boston University, The College of William & Mary, Rice University, Northeastern University, University of Florida, George Washington University, University of Virginia and University of Georgia. Many achieved a mixture of academic and sporting scholarships, including swimming, tennis, golf, soccer, hockey, basketball and rugby.

Millfield supports students with SAT classes and is one of few SAT test centres in the UK which means that students do not need to leave the campus to take their SAT entry exam. We offer three SAT tests per year on campus in December, March and May.
