Eleven Old Millfieldians are competing in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, representing seven professional county teams over the four-week tournament.
OM’s Tom Bevan (Glamorgan), Joe Eckland (Hampshire), Daniel Bell-Drummond (Kent), George Bartlett (Northamptonshire), Tom Moores (Nottinghamshire), Lewis Goldsworthy (Somerset), Kasey Aldridge (Somerset), Ned Leonard (Somerset), Brad Currie (Sussex), and recent Upper Sixth graduates Dominic Kelly (Hampshire) and Archie Vaughan (Somerset) will all be competing in the tournament that began on July 24. The Metro Bank Cup is designed for First XI professional cricketers and runs concurrently with The Hundred.
Millfield Director of Cricket, Mark Garaway said, “It is fantastic to have so many Millfield Cricket graduates featuring in the Metro One Day Cup this year across seven counties. This shows how Millfield supports players from different counties, and how we work with so many county stakeholders to create a bespoke programme around each player to best support their development and their transition into the professional game. It doesn’t matter what part of the country a player lives in, our coaching team will collaborate fantastically with their respective county to fast-track development. It’s particularly exciting for Archie and Dom who have recently graduated from our programme. Whilst Dom has played a fair bit of 1st XI County Cricket now, Archie made his well deserved Somerset debut in the match vs Kent Spitfires.”
