Three Millfield athletes have been selected onto highly competitive England Athletics talent programmes.
Millfield Lower Sixth students Mayalee Osola and Lily Martin have been selected for the England Athletics Youth Talent Programme (YTP), while Upper Sixth Lucy Fellows was selected for the Junior Talent Programme (JTP).
The England Athletics talent pathway aims to increase the number of talented athletes who have the skills, competencies, knowledge, and resilience to progress to World Class Programmes, succeed at Senior Championships and gain a positive life experience from the journey.
The Youth and Junior Talent programmes provide a first step on the talent pathway designed to meet the needs of identified, talented athletes and their coaches. The programmes focus on developing a dual career for the athlete through fulfilling their potential within the sport and in their education and employability.
Millfield Head of Athletics, Neil Wheeler said “It’s great to see some of our Sixth Form students selected to be part of a National Governing Body (NGB) development programme. This opportunity will provide further support in their pursuit for individual brilliance in sport, in addition to the provision here at school. Ongoing partnerships with NGB’s is an important part of growing the Millfield Athletics programme.”
