Millfield awarded Co-Educational Independent School of the Year

Millfield School have been awarded Co-Educational Independent School of the Year at the annual Independent School of the Year awards.

The school have been recognised for their determinedly inclusive approach in every area of education.

The award comes as Millfield celebrates numerous other top achievements including being named the Best Sports School in the UK for 10 years, placing in the top 10 for GCSE and A level results for co-educational boarding schools in the UK based on our top 100 students, achieving the highest number of Oxbridge selections in over a decade and 100 offers from US universities including nine at Ivy League institutions. Scholarships to US universities are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Millfield is educating the whole community with its innovative Girls in Sport campaign, which supports girls and educates boys. The initiative brings issues for girls’ development barriers in sport to the forefront of the conversation and has given boys and staff greater understanding.

All students from Year 9 to Upper Sixth are supported in the classroom, in their sport or with neurodiversity. Boys and girls share all aspects of school life including classes, sports, activities and socialising, with students living on campus 24/7.

The school teaches students to lead happy and healthy relationships and empowers them to challenge the status quo. The community live by the values: Be Authentic, Be Kind, Be Disruptors, Be Curious and Be Brilliant which are prevalent through all aspects of school life. The values underpin everything and are embedded into school life.

To prepare students for life beyond Millfield, the Futures department offers one-to-one appointments, bespoke to their needs and education for year groups through assemblies, Futures fairs and visiting speakers. With specialists in different areas, every student is supported.

Most families cite choosing Millfield for their children for its full boarding, sport, facilities, learning support and opportunities on offer, a combination like no other school in the UK.

In recent years, Millfield was awarded Independent School of the Year for International Student Experience from the same body.
