Millfield Drama present A Christmas Carol

Millfield Drama presented a festive favourite for this year's Senior Play. The thespians performed ‘A Christmas Carol’, an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic by John Mortimer.

With an ensemble cast of 17, all participants played an integral part in bringing the story to life, with Lower Sixth students playing key roles: Inigo Edens performed the challenging role of Scrooge, and the performance featured an all-female collection of ghosts, with Alice McDowell terrorising the audience as the Ghost of Marley, Reshma Rao as Christmas Past and Holly Taylor as Christmas Present.

To tell the story in our own way, we have used all the tools available to us. The show features wonderful projection to truly conjure the supernatural and some truly fantastic puppetry, operated by Lower Sixth Annabella Dawkins, as well as lighting and sound operated by our excellent technical students, including Lower Sixth Gia Sundaram as Stage Manager, and Sam Wardell in Upper Sixth who is hoping to go on to further study in this area.

Millfield’s first evening concert in the Johnson Hall brought us The Open Musicians’ Platform to kick start the academic year. This concert is made for our intermediate students, between grades four to seven where we saw a great range of repertoire from various genres and instrumentation take stage, as well as some students performing for the first time in front of a socially distanced audience, as well as viewers at home via the live stream on Millfield’s Senior School YouTube Channel.
