Five Millfield students have received a record number of offers to study medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine at UK universities.

Sixth Form students Sofya Diskantova, Anya Hegde, Khumo Karas, Sam Krolikowski and Lin Pretorious have received offers from a range of top level universities, including Peninsula Medical School in Plymouth, Cardiff University, University of Glasgow, Imperial College London, St George's, University of London, Queen Mary University of London, Lancaster University, University of Edinburgh and the Royal Veterinary College.

Students also have the chance to study in-depth physiology and anatomy on a range of different species through a Dissection after school club.

Former Millfield pupils who have gone on to succeed in the world of medicine include general practitioner and TV doctor Sarah Jarvis MBE, who has over 30 years’ experience in the NHS and has appeared on multiple UK news outlets to offer a heath care professional’s insight into the coronavirus outbreak, and haematologist and oncologist Dr Paul Richardson, who has been awarded Honorary Fellowships at some of the world’s top medical institutions, including Harvard Medical School and the Royal College of Physicians.

Millfield Headmaster Gavin Horgan says, “I’m delighted to share the excitement of our pupils who have received such fantastic offers to pursue their dreams of being heathcare professionals. Millfield is proud to support, develop and challenge top level academic students and I hope these university offers inspire other students to follow in their footsteps in the future.”
