Millfield named UK’s number one school for England International Rugby Players

Leading independent school, Millfield, takes the crown for producing the most England International rugby players, with 44 since 1949. Millfield has a notable reputation for producing outstanding international rugby players, with former pupils including Chris Robshaw, Jonathan Joseph and Mako Vunipola to name a few.

The production line of talent is down to the Rugby programme itself created by Director of Rugby John Mallett, former England International. Next Gen XV, The Global Home of School Rugby named legendary John Mallett as the driver of success in producing outstanding players time and time again.

John Mallett said “We are so proud to be the number one school in producing England Internationals. Success from Millfield alumni inspires our current students and motivates them to follow in their footsteps. Our Sir Gareth Edwards Pitch has seen so many talented players and we can’t wait to see more inspiring Millfield students represent England in the future”.

The main aim of Millfield Rugby is to enhance individual players in a challenging environment with development at the forefront of training. Millfield’s Institute of Sport and Wellbeing work closely with players for further conditioning, physiotherapy and performance analysis to uncover each individual’s greatest potential. This, combined with a team of 18 specialist coaches, maintains Millfield’s rugby legacy as a leading establishment in the pathway to elite rugby.
