Millfield Netballer selected for U17 Scotland side

Millfield Sixth Former has been selected for the U17 Scotland Squad for the 2022-23 season.

Netballer Darcy Highmore was selected for the Scottish side after multiple trials and long squad training sessions. Darcy is representing the U17 Scotland Squad this weekend in the U17 Netball Europe Competition which is being held in Newcastle. They face England, the UAE and an England Invitational team. She is hoping to receive her first international cap for her country at this prestigious event.

Darcy is the fifth international selection for Millfield netball this season, and the eighth in the last year with students being selected into England, Wales, Scotland, Switzerland and the Isle of Man International sides.

Sixteen-year-old Darcy has boarded at Millfield since Year 9 and, alongside netball, is a keen swimmer. She is studying A levels in Chemistry, Biology and Geography and hopes to study medicine at university whilst continuing her netball and swimming.

Darcy says, “I chose to come to Millfield for the excellent sporting opportunities. It has such a high level of support for both my netball and swimming but also, for the academics as the teachers always provide an enjoyable learning environment. The one-on-one support given to me by the coaching staff has really allowed me to grow as a player. These have helped me to develop my skills individually which then allows me to be a better asset to the team.”

Millfield have a number of specialist Netball staff who are highly experienced coaches and players who perform within international settings, the Vitality Netball Superleague, the England Performance pathway and Premier League Clubs. Millfield annually has athletes representing superleague franchises across all age groups within the National Performance League and at Superleague.
