Millfield Pentathlete becomes youngest member of GB World Class Programme
Millfield Upper Sixth student Sebastian Forrest has earned a place on Pentathlon GB’s Senior World Class Programme.
At just 17, he is the youngest athlete on the programme, which supports Britain's most promising pentathletes in balancing elite sport with their education while preparing for major international competitions.
Sebastian is training at the University of Bath, Pentathlon GB’s National Training Centre and now has the opportunity to work alongside some of the country's top pentathletes, including former Olympic champions. His involvement goes beyond high-performance training, as he benefits from a comprehensive support network that includes sport science, physiotherapy, performance management and personal development guidance, ensuring that he continues to grow both as an athlete and an individual.
Sebastian’s commitment and potential have also been recognised with a prestigious Athlete Performance Award (APA) from UK Sport. This funding is awarded to athletes who demonstrate the ability to succeed at the highest level, helping them engage fully with a high-performance programme while managing the demands of both sport and education.
Since joining Millfield in Lower Sixth as a boarder from Gloucestershire, Sebastian has thrived in the school's dynamic sporting and academic environment. Currently studying A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics, he balances his training schedule with a passion for learning. Looking ahead, he hopes to study Astrophysics at the University of Bath while continuing his pentathlon journey.
Sebastian said, “I was really pleased to be selected onto the Pentathlon GB Senior World Class Programme and to receive an Athlete Performance Award from UK Sport. I am excited for the season ahead and look forward to upcoming international events. I would like to thank Miss Cord and all my coaches at Millfield for their support, and Pentathlon GB for giving me this opportunity.”
Head of Modern Pentathlon, Antonia Cord, said “We are incredibly proud of Seb and all he has achieved. His work ethic and commitment to both sport and academics are remarkable. He genuinely enjoys the challenge of balancing both, and that's what makes him stand out. We look forward to seeing him continue his journey in modern pentathlon beyond Millfield and wish him every success in the future.”
