Millfield Prep School Year 6 pupil Keeleigh Cooke has gained a total of six gold medals in Swim England’s new Level X competition.
Keeleigh, who is a boarder at Millfield Prep, received six gold, one silver and two bronze medals after competing in the national competition in her local Basingstoke pool over the Christmas holidays. More than 16,200 swimmers from 430 clubs took part in the opening event of Swim England’s new racing initiative, between 23 October and the end of December. Level X allows swimmers to take part in a series of time-trials using all strokes at varying distances and submit them to Swim England rankings.
Millfield Prep boarder Keeleigh, who has been swimming for the Basingstoke Bluefins since the age of six and trains at Millfield Prep during term time, says “I was really excited when the National Level X Swimming competition was announced. After the first lockdown, it was great to have a new challenge to work towards. I am very proud of my results and can’t wait to get back to training with my friends again”.
Millfield Swimming is recognised as one of the top clubs in the country, with the Millfield Prep programme led by Director of Swimming, former Olympic athlete Helen Gouldby. Millfield Prep pupils have access to outstanding facilities, including an onsite 25 metre pool and use of the 50m Olympic pool at Millfield.
