Millfield Prep School Hosts Record-Breaking Eco Day

Millfield Prep School celebrated its most successful Eco Day yet, with pupils from Tadpoles to Year 8 engaged in outdoor activities promoting environmental stewardship.

Pre-Prep pupils crafted eco crowns, made bird feeders, collected litter, and enjoyed gardening. Year 3 took a field trip to Magdalen Farm, enhancing their outdoor learning. Year 5 explored a recycling centre, while Years 4 and 6 participated in a tree hunt, built solar updraft towers, attended a Carymoor Environmental Workshop, and created seed bombs to learn about pollinators.

Year 7 focused on sustainability projects, and Year 8 engaged in activities like Forest School, birdhouse construction, drum-making, and orienteering. The day ended with a scenic 6km walk through the Somerset countryside, allowing pupils to reflect on their experiences in nature.

This Eco Day highlighted firsthand learning, teamwork, and environmental awareness, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
