Millfield Skier selected for Great Britain Snowsport Alpine team

Millfield skier Victoria Meneghetti has been selected for the Great Britain Snowsport Alpine squad.

Fourteen-year-old Victoria will represent Great Britain at the annual international junior ski competition, Trofeu Boruffa, in Andorra, where she will compete in Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Super G.

Victoria joined Millfield last September to continue with her academics whilst skiing at international level. She said, “I joined Millfield School because it is one of the best schools in the UK where I can study whilst continuing with my sport at a high level. Millfield has incredible sports facilities and a curriculum that gives you the best chance to enter some of the top universities in the world.”

Victoria’s participation in multiple sports at Millfield has benefited her skiing. She said, “I enjoy trying out different sports at school that are fun but are still complementary to my skiing programmes. At school, I have been enjoying athletics and dance, this has helped with my coordination, balance and cardio. I also have strength and conditioning sessions in the gym with the skiing squad, which has helped with strength and endurance.”

Victoria has been supported by her teachers at school so that she is still able to complete her academic work on top of attending races and training sessions. She said, “At Millfield, the teaching staff, and my classmates have supported me a lot, especially during the winter period when I have been away from school to stay in the training and competition locations. I am in contact with the teachers every day and I am always up to date on the lessons and the homework so that I do not fall behind.”

Consistent performances in National Schools’ Championships prove that Millfield ranks as one of the best schools for Ski instruction and development on the British Isles. Training and conditioning is tailored to each student, allowing them to improve at a pace and style that they enjoy.
