Upper Sixth student Eden Robinson has been named the Welsh Junior Female Athlete of the Year.
Eden, joined Millfield in Lower Sixth as a boarder to continue with her sport at a high level.
Eden recently came fifth in the Heptathlon at the World U20 Championships in Peru. She also claimed first place in the UK for the U20 category in the Heptathlon 2024 season. "It is amazing to have been awarded Welsh Junior Female Athlete of the Year, especially after how hard the climb was to make World Juniors as the youngest in my event.”
Eden is currently studying A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and PE, and is able to keep up with her academics alongside her busy sports schedule. She said, “I like to keep a diary and a calendar to know what sessions I have and when, so that I can plan my day and when I need to do my revision/homework. Additionally, the staff support network is incredible, and they have created a space where I am comfortable to let them know if I need an extra few days to complete work.”
As well as Heptathlon, Eden is also vice captain for the Netball 1st team and participates in other extracurricular activities like orchestra and jazz band. She is also a member of the Girls in Sport committee. Eden said, “Being at Millfield, I have been able to do my academics, netball and athletics, without sacrifice and with some amazing people! It really brings out the best in me and is flexible around my academics and extracurricular activities. The community of coaches, teachers and my housemistress allow me to thrive in all areas of my life. Millfield is a dream for a student athlete.”
Millfield Director of Athletics, Neil Wheeler said, “We congratulate Eden on an outstanding season and a well-deserved award. Her commitment has been unwavering, but what truly stands out is the positive energy she brings to every interaction with the coaching team and her fellow students. Eden has been a driving force on the athletics team and a true role model to her peers. She embodies the belief that success is not just about winning, but also about uplifting and supporting those around her.”
