Millfield students secure $11 million scholarships at top US universities
Millfield students have secured scholarships at top US universities worth over $11 million. Sixth Formers have committed to study at prestigious institutions such as Princeton, Cornell and the University of Florida.
Eden Robinson, who joined Millfield in Lower Sixth as a boarder, will be attending the University of Florida on a full ride Track and Field scholarship. Since joining Millfield, Eden has been Captain of School, vice-captain for the Netball first team and participates in orchestra and jazz band. Last year, Eden was named the Welsh Junior Female Athlete of the Year. Eden said, “Millfield has really brought out the best in me and is flexible around my academics and extracurricular activities. The community of coaches, teachers and my housemistress allowed me to thrive in all areas of my life. Millfield is a dream for a student athlete.”
Angel Li, a boarder who joined Millfield from Beijing in Year 10, will be attending Cornell University to major in architecture. Angel joined Millfield for its broader opportunities and is currently studying A Level art, economics, and maths. During her time at Millfield, she has participated in skiing, volunteering at a local charity shop, and teaching art at Elmhurst Primary School through the Millfield Brilliance Award programme.
Ewan Pedersen, who joined Millfield in Year 9, will be attending Princeton University on a swimming scholarship. Initially joining Millfield for football, he discovered his talent and passion for swimming. Ewan said, "One of my favourite memories from Millfield would be winning the 4X100 freestyle relay at the 2023 British Swimming Championships. Swimming at Millfield includes lots of early mornings and late nights for training, but it's special when you achieve a dream together.”
Jimmy Jamieson, who joined Millfield Prep in Year 6, will be attending the University of Wisconsin Superior to play football and study Exercise Science. Jimmy said, “Whether that be in team sports, individual sports or even canoeing through the forests in Wales, Millfield has it all.” Millfield Futures and the football department have supported Jimmy through his application process via the school's relationships with football agencies in the US. He said, “Millfield have helped me through this process due to their long-term connections with US football agencies.”
Hollie Tappin, a boarder from Surrey, joined Millfield Prep in Year 7 for the sporting opportunities. She enjoys all sport, having gained her black belt in karate aged 12, and competed nationally in cross country, but football has always been her passion. Whilst at Millfield, Hollie played for the Somerset Emerging Talent Centre and then joined Bridgwater United, progressing through the academy to play in the women's first team, helping them win the County Cup earlier this year. She studies BTEC sport and A level geography. Speaking of the Millfield Football programme, Hollie said, "The facilities and pitches are amazing, and the coaches are very down to earth. The team environment is really friendly. I train four times a week alongside two gym sessions."
Anton Jerga, from Singapore, will be attending Radford University on a football scholarship. Anton, who joined Millfield in Lower Sixth for its football programme has won two national finals. He said, "The Millfield Football programme is challenging, but if you're consistent and have a good work ethic, the team will make the most of you. Football and the whole Millfield experience has been really great." He has also benefitted from the Millfield Futures Department who regularly hold informative talks and events to support students with their next steps. Anton said, "The Futures department brought in US universities and agents as part of a school Futures Fair which was really useful. I found my US agent at one of these events. I also spoke to OMs in the football team who had gone to a US university."
Ella Patterson joined Millfield in Lower Sixth and is a boarder from Devon. Ella will be attending East Texas A&M University on an athletics scholarship. She is studying BTEC sport and A level business and specialises in hammer. Her favourite aspect of the athletics programme is the flexibility. she said, "We train almost every day, and have strength and conditioning gym sessions, but we have flexibility which I enjoy."
Joy Gibson from Hong Kong, joined Millfield in Lower Sixth for the sport and academic opportunities. She is studying A level philosophy, politics and business, and is a high jumper. She will be attending Texas Christian University and is hoping to major in sociology. She said "The Futures team were always there to support with my application. Millfield gives you the leeway and time to juggle both academics and sport to a high level."
Amber Chana, a boarder who lives in the UAE, joined Millfield in Lower Sixth. Amber is studying A level philosophy, psychology and business. She said, "I joined Millfield for the opportunities and different routes that are available to all its students. I have presented on the topic of business at the weekly Brilliance Breakfasts. I love projecting onto others what I love about the subject." Alongside academics, she is a horse rider and competes in showjumping and she also took up rugby for the first time, playing in the prestigious Rosslyn Park competition.
Charlotte Robertson, a boarder from Scotland, joined Millfield in Lower Sixth for hockey. She will be attending the University of Delaware to major in economics whilst playing high level hockey. Charlotte joined Millfield after attending a training day and saw the standard of hockey at Millfield. She said, "Being at Millfield makes the transition to US universities a lot easier, especially the boarding aspect. As a first-time boarder I was nervous, but my roommate quickly became my best friend." Charlotte is currently studying A level chemistry, geography and business.
Many more students will be receiving offers and making decisions over the coming months. Millfield provides specialist guidance for applications to American universities and timetabled SAT classes, as well as being an approved SAT centre.

Millfield Prep's U12 boys cricket team delivered an outstanding performance on Wednesday to win the County Cup Final against King's College Prep.
Millfield Prep pupils finished the competition season on a high at the 2025 IAPS Trampolining Finals, held at Royal Russell School.
After a successful weekend competing in the IAME British Championship at GYG in North Wales, Millfield Prep pupil Josef continued his strong form with a third place finish in Round four of the Whilton Mill Club Championship.
