Millfield unveils first single at record label launch

Millfield has launched its own record label for students to present original songs.

Millfield Records presented the debut track "End Of Me," written and performed by Upper Sixth student Tansy Fowler this week.

The student-led record label focuses on creating professional quality original music with students operating as a collaborative team throughout the creation, production and post-production stages, allocating roles and working together to deliver the finished track.

Tansy who joined Millfield Prep in Year 4, from Somerset, has been an integral part of the music and drama departments at Millfield, performing in numerous concerts and productions throughout her time at the school. After Millfield, Tansy will be attending Oxford University on a prestigious choral scholarship to read music.

"Making this track has been a great new experience for me, and the platform has really helped me to develop myself," Tansy said. "Being involved in every step has given me such valuable insight and experience in recording vocals as well as the surrounding music production processes."

The song features bass accompaniment from Lower Sixth students Jaspar Fung, with studio engineering from Max Hooper and Freddie Surman and photography by Claire Von Yurt and Bethan Molnar.

The Millfield Records team also includes, Year 9 students, Lulu Heffron and Blaise Bailey, and Year 10 student Will Huxter. The project was recorded and engineered in Millfield’s recording studio.

Millfield music production teacher, Charlie Wallace, said, "Millfield Records is a wonderful space for our talented songwriters, music producers, and creatives to not only hone their craft but, most importantly, to develop their collaborative skills".
