Millfield welcomes new school nutritionist
Millfield have welcomed a new school nutritionist, Adam Sutton.
Adam will be working for the school’s catering provider, Chartwells, ensuring that food provision is meeting student’s diverse requirements and creating a positive experience in the dining hall. Millfield first employed a full-time nutritionist in 2020 to cater to the needs of its busy students. Adam will provide pastoral support around allergens and building healthy relationships with food. He has introduced a quick and convenient access to daily allergen and dietary information via digital menus on social media.
Adam studied Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Birmingham, before progressing onto a MSc in Sport and Exercise nutrition, where he developed an expertise on nutrition and sporting performance. He is also an accredited graduate registrant on the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr). Adam will work with student athletes and deliver workshop sessions to teach them how to cater their diets to provide optimum performance, both in and out of the classroom.
Adam said, “I am delighted to have joined Millfield. The school provides opportunities to work in such a wide variety of different areas within nutrition. I am particularly passionate about specific sports nutrition and optimally fuelling performance, so the amazing reputation and sporting success here at Millfield excites me. I believe strongly in the importance of developing positive relationships with food throughout childhood and teenage years, so I am particularly excited to build upon the engaging nutritional environment that is already in place at the school.”
Millfield’s catering company Chartwells provide healthy and nutritious food for pupils and staff to enjoy together, and use fresh, locally and ethically sourced produce, where available.
