OM Callum Sheedy earns his first rugby cap for Wales

On the 13 November 2020, Callum Sheedy (2012-2014; Shapwick) earned his first Welsh Rugby cap in the Autumn Nations Cup. Callum came off the bench for Wales in the opening round on Friday against Ireland.

Callum was born in Cardiff and joined Millfield in 2012 for Sixth Form. His love of rugby developed whilst he was at Millfield as he enjoyed playing for the school team. He was made team captain as a result of his passion and proficiency for the sport. Not long after leaving Millfield, he was considered as a future rising star and was named to represent Wales at the Junior World Championships.

Callum signed for Bristol Rugby Club when he left Millfield in 2014. He is now the starting fly-half for the club, which changed its name to Bristol Bears. In this time, he has also played on loan for Clifton, Dings Crusaders, and Jersey Reds. In 2019, Callum played for England in an uncapped match against the Barbarians but has now committed to playing for Wales.

After playing for Bristol for 6 seasons, Callum was called up into the senior Welsh squad last month. He made his international debut for Wales and was awarded his first Welsh cap, an incredible and well-deserved achievement!

Callum says, “It was a very special moment for me and my family, and one I will remember for the rest of my life. It makes all the sacrifices worth it.”

Congratulations!
