OM Hannah Passmore (2012-2014; MPS/2014-2019; The Lakes) has been selected for the England U21 Netball Squad for 2021. She will be the first OM to play for England since Pamela Cookey, a former Captain of the England Netball Team, who retired in 2015.
Hannah currently plays for Team Bath, which she joined when she was 16, and she has participated in their U17, U19 and U21 categories. She was selected for the U21 Squad when she was in Year 11 at Millfield, and she joined the Vitality Netball Superleague team in Year 13, at the age of 17. She made her debut with them in March of this year. Hannah also played in the 2019 Fast 5 tournament with Team Bath.
Hannah is one of only 26 athletes who have been selected for the U21 England Squad by the newly appointed Head Coach. Hannah has trialled for the England squad three times, demonstrating that hard work pays off and her selection is a truly well-earned achievement.
In addition to this, she has also been selected into the performance competition squad, which will be competing in a tournament between Wales, Scotland and Ireland at the end of the year.
Whilst at Millfield, Hannah was the 1st Team Netball Captain, from 2018-19, and she was selected in all age group tournaments for county, regional and national games. She would also lead warm-ups and practices across all senior teams and coach at sessions with the Prep School and junior age groups. The Head of Netball at Millfield, Jenna Adamson, describes her as “a dedicated and committed individual who was key in driving forward the culture and team ethos at Millfield. Being selected to represent your country is the ultimate goal and one Hannah has worked tirelessly to achieve, a wonderful role model to all.”
We asked Hannah about how she feels to have been selected for the U21 England Squad and she said, “I am extremely excited and proud. It is such an amazing opportunity and something I have dreamt of and worked toward since I started to play netball! I am looking forward to working with a very talented group of girls and coaches and developing my game even further, as well as having the chance to represent my country in a sport I love!” We also asked Hannah about her favourite memories of Millfield and it was great to hear her say that, “Netball was a massive part of my school life. During my time at Millfield, I enjoyed the comradery, the commitment and determination from the coaches and players, and the friendships made on and off the court.”
Congratulations Hannah for such a well-deserved achievement, and the best of luck with this exciting next step of your netball career!
