Members of the Millfield community recently gathered to celebrate 20 years of the OM of the Year Awards.
We have honoured OMs across a wide range of professions and achievements, including authors, international sportsmen and Olympic champions, media personalities, West End theatre and film directors, gardeners, musicians, national and industrial leaders, politicians, entrepreneurs, pioneering doctors and charity and humanitarian workers, from all over the world.
This year's award winners were Jonathan Joseph, Adwoa Aboah, Galahad Clark and Joanna Perry. Jonathan is an international rugby player who has obtained 54 England caps as well as two for the British and Irish Lions. Joanna is a chartered accountant and works for international accountancy and consultancy firm, KPMG. Galahad is a seventh-generation cobbler and is the driving force behind sustainable shoe brand, Vivobarefoot. Finally, Adwoa is an international fashion model and in 2015, she founded a charity which strives to create a safe space for young women to discuss mental health.
The winners join the 77 other former award winners who have been titled OM of the Year since it began in 2000. It was a pleasure to welcome previous award winners Sharon Hendry, Keith McAdam, John Sergeant, Jenny Barraclough, Nike Gates, David Heath and Michael Hayman, who hosted the ceremony.
The students entertained the guests during the drinks and the dinner. Angelina Bonetti, Hamish Barry, Rhys Miller, Esme Ellis, Billy Swift and Al Heming performed beautifully.
