Millfield Prep has a well-stocked library with a wide range of up-to-date fiction and nonfiction, picture books, graphic novels and dyslexia friendly books. It is a welcoming space where pupils can discover new authors and develop a love of reading.

Pupils across Years 3 to 8 have regular library sessions, with a focus on reading, and developing confident, independent library users. Younger pupils are introduced to the library and are supported in finding books they will enjoy, while older pupils are encouraged to broaden their reading and explore different genres.

Our Pre Prep pupils visit the library every week to enjoy being read to and to choose books to take back to their classrooms.

Pupils can also use the library during break and lunchtime to read, choose books or carry out research. The library is also open from 4pm - 6.30pm for pupils with late clubs.

Library staff are always happy to help pupils find their next book, choose something new or put together a reading list. School reading lists are available, and bespoke recommendations can be requested by pupils and parents at any time.

Throughout the year, the library runs a programme of activities and events to bring books and reading to life. These include book fairs, author and poet visits, World Book Day celebrations, Craft Club, competitions and other special reading events.
