Cricketers at Millfield Prep enjoy first inter-school match of the year

Millfield Prep pupils enjoyed their first inter-school cricket matches for two years on Wednesday.

Cricketers from Taunton Prep were welcomed to the school's 11 cricket pitches for a series of friendly matches. Girls and boys in Year 5-8 played 22 different games against Taunton Prep pupils, with 11 of the matches taking place away, on Taunton Prep's pitches.

David Beal, Millfield Prep's Director of Cricket says, "It was brilliant to see the children out playing matches against another school again. The children loved the experience and for their development it is a massive bonus to be playing once more. What really stood out was the depth of standard of the boys’ and girls’ teams, highlighting how good the cricket program is here at the Millfield Prep."

Both girls and boys play Cricket as their summer sport at Millfield Prep, with club sessions and individual lessons on offer throughout the year. The boys’ 1st team have won the David English Bunbury and National Prep School titles and have won 19 national titles in the last 23 years in the national Under 11 Hardball competition. Millfield Prep’s facilities include 11 pitches, 4 indoor nets, 8 outdoor nets and a cage for middle practice, as well as use of the new Indoor Cricket Centre at Millfield.
