Millfield appoints Deputy Director of Sport

Millfield is delighted to appoint Michael Visser as Deputy Director of Sport.

Michael joins the sporting powerhouse from two British International Schools, Cheltenham Muscat and Downe House Muscat, in Oman, where he has been Operations Manager since 2021, and was integral to the opening of those schools. He has previously worked in Financial Risk Management in the banking sector.

Michael takes up the position in July and will support the Director of Sport Irena Dzisiewska and the 113 full-time sports department at Millfield in delivering our sports programmes.

His focus will be on leading the routine operational coordination of sports, ensuring the delivery of the school’s high-quality sports programmes across 30 sports.

Michael said: “I am excited to be joining such a prestigious school as Millfield and I am looking forward to implementing my operational expertise, project and people management skills and strategic development knowledge, to help make Millfield even better. I have a love of endurance sport and so Millfield feels like the perfect fit for me.”

Michael is a keen cyclist and runner, who competes in triathlons and endurance running and cycling events. He also takes part in weekly Parkruns and enjoys coaching junior rugby.

Millfield has been named the number one UK school for sport for 11 out of 12 years by School Sports Magazine and has an enviable reputation for its sports coaching expertise and facilities, balanced with strong academics and the arts.
