Millfield Prep Pupil Places Sixth in National Virtual Dance Contest

Millfield Prep School pupil Megan Boyd has placed sixth in national virtual dance competition The Great Big Dance Off, out of almost 100 children in her category.

The National Schools competition was open to all primary school children across England and Wales, who could perform any style of dance to their choice of music. Year 6 pupil Megan from Baltonsborough, Somerset, competed against 96 other children in her category and was delighted to finish in sixth place.

“It was strange competing virtually because I am used to going to actual dance festivals. Instead I had to film the routine in my garden!”, says Megan. “Dancing on grass isn’t as easy as dancing on the stage.”

Megan choregraphed the piece herself to a song from the musical Little Shop of Horrors.

“I chose to do a musical theatre routine because I love routines with character and lots of performance. I love choreographing my own routines because it is so much fun to put my own ideas into a routine.”

“My ultimate dream is to go to stage school when I am older and to perform on the West End in musicals!”
