Prep boarders take part in traditional Wassailing
Our boarders from Chestnut House went to the school orchard to have a traditional Somerset Wassail.
Wassailing is an ancient tradition where the apple trees are shouted at and hit with sticks to help them produce the next harvest of apples and scare away the evil spirits. The aim is to make as much noise as possible which the boys were good at helping with! The boys also tried Mrs Duke’s warm ‘cider’ (a mulled, spiced apple juice) and a chocolate-dipped apple. Now we will wait to see just how many apples we get from the trees this year!
